Composed by fiddler, composer, orchestra leader and music publisher Nathaniel Gow [1] (1766-1831), third son of the famous Scots fiddler-composer Niel Gow (1727-1807). The Montagu-Scotts were the Dukes and Duchesses of Buccleuch.
