MAID MARIAN. AKA - "Mad Marian." English, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The hornpipe, almost identical to the "Maid Marian" printed in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883) was entered into the large c. 1840-60 music manuscript collection of Manchester, England, musician John Roose. "Maid Marian" is also entered in volume one (p. 192) of the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper James Goodman.
