MAID OF ATHLONE, THE (An Aindear/Aindir Ua At-Luain). AKA and see "Enchanted Lady (The)." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Sligo fiddler Paddy Killoran recorded the tune in New York in 1939 under the title "Enchanted Lady (The)," by which name the Bothy Band also recorded it in 1977.

Source for notated version: "McFadden" [O'Neill]. Fiddler Biography:John McFadden was born around 1847 in Carrowmore, near Newport, County Mayo. He emigrated to the United States, settling in Chicago, and died in 1913. Although musically illiterate, he had an excellent ear, and an ability to generate spontaneous variations when playing tunes. O'Neill admired his skill and mussicianship.
