MAIDENS OF TIR EOGHAIN, THE. Irish, Double Jig (6/8 time). Ireland, County Donegal. A Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB. The melody was collected by Padraig Mac Aodh O'Neill in 1903 from the playing of Fawans, Kilmacrennan, Donegal, farmer and schoolmaster Proinseas Mac Suibhne, who learned it from Antoine Mac Suibhne of Bearnas Gap. It appears in Mac Aodh O'Neill's Song of Uladh (1904).

Source for notated version: "from Prosineas mac Suibhne, who had it from Antoine mac Suibhne, a young fiddler of the parish of Tearmann, who lived near Bearnas Gap" [P. Mac Aodh O'Neill].
