MISTAKE [2], THE. English, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. The melody under this title is unique to Charles and Samuel Thompson’s Compleat Collection, vol. 3 (London, 1773). However, the entire tune appears in the 1840 music manuscript of multi-instrumentalist John Rook (Waverton, Cumbria) under the title "Light and Airy (5), as well as "The Mistake" later in the collection.
