OVER THE DYKE AND AT HER [1]. English, Reel. England, Northumberland. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. The title would seem to have a sexual meaning i.e. losing one's virginity. Matt Seattle notes some distant similarity to John Peacock's "O'er the Dyke" (c. 1805), but says that William Dixon's "Over the Dyke and Till Her Laddy" is a close cognate, albeit in the key of 'G'.
