REEL DU DIABLE. AKA and see "Devil's Dream (1)," "Deil Among the Tailors (The)," "Devil Among the Tailors (1) (The)," "Rêve du Diable (1) (Le)," "Satan's Nightmare." French-Canadian, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Lisa Ornstein showcases Avila Leblanc's 'crooked', exquisite, Acadian (Magdalen Islands) version of the well-known "Devil's Dream." The tune was recorded in 1938 by fiddler Jos Bouchard in a virtuostic performance that included numerous variations. Isidore Soucy's similarly-titled (and very 'crooked') "Rêve du Diable (2) (Le)", recorded in 1927 [1], is in some ways reminiscent, but is a different tune. However, fiddler Joseph Laroque's 1931 "Rêve du Diable (1) (Le)" [2] is a fairly straight-forward version of the "Devil's Dream" tune.
