ROLLING DOWN THE HILL [2] (Ag liatrad/cornad sios an cnuic/cnoc). AKA and see “Apples in Winter (3),” “Mountain Lark (1) (The),” “Old Wheels of the World (The)." Irish, Reel. A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (O'Neill/1850): ABB' (O'Neill/Krassen). A version of the reel was earlier published by violinist R.M. Levey first collection (1858) as "Apples in Winter (3)," although, as musician and researcher Paul de Grae remarks, it "has been improved in [O'Neill's] setting, with a more flowing line, possibly by James O'Neill." He points out the O'Neill already had a tune called "Apples in Winter" in his collection (MOI, No. 111), and so perhaps changed the name of this tune to avoid confusion.
