ROSS' REEL [1]. AKA and see "First Night in Leadville (The)," "Taylor's Reel (3)." American, Reel (2/4 time). E Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This composition is credited blackface minstrel and tune composer biography:Zeke Backus in Coes Album of Jigs and Reels and Ryan’s Mammoth Collection/Cole's 1000. Backus was also a minstrel performer, and apparently spent at least some time in San Francisco. The reel is not related to the similarly-titled "Ross's Reel No. 1" or "Ross's Reel No. 4."

Fr. John Quinn finds the tune under the title "Taylor's Reel (3)" in Elias Howe's Musician's Omnibus Nos. 6 & 7 (1880-1882).
