ST-FÉRÉOLE. AKA - "Reel de St-Féréole." AKA and see "Calédonia (Le)," "Calédonia quatrième partie (Le)," "Galope de la Baie St-Paul," "Galope du Bas-Saguenay," "Set américain 1ère partie (Duguay)." French-Canadian, Reel (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The first two distinctive measures are shared with "Reel du Père François." Fiddler Pascal Gemme remarks that "St-Féréole" is considered a beginner's tune, and as such is unwelcome in some sessions. Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges is a municipality in Quebec on the west bank of the St. Lawrence just above Quebec City, named after Jean Lyon de Saint-Ferréol (1692-1744), vicar to the Bishop of Quebec. In 1969 the town's name was altered to include the extra 'r' and Les-Neiges ("snow") was added to highlight the good snow conditions of nearby Mont-Sainte-Anne and the resulting prosperity[1].
