THRUSH IN THE BUSH, THE (An Smólach sa Sceach). Irish, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Breathnach, McGuire & Keegan, Miller): AABB’ (Keegan): AA’BB’ (Connolly & Martin). Composed by pianist and fiddler Josephine Keegan (b. 1935) of Mullaghbawn, south County Armagh. Jackie Small, in his notes to Ceol Rince na hÉirreann V (1999), says the tune is “very popular with musicians” and has been recorded several times.
