TIN WARE LASS, THE (Cailin an Stain-Earrada). AKA and see "Pewter Mug (1)." Irish, English, American; Reel or Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A reel (Ryan) or hornpipe (O'Neill) of unknown provenance. Francis O'Neill often mined Ryan's Mammoth Collection for Irish (or Irish-sounding) tunes, and "Tin Ware Lasses" appears in both collections. However, unlike many such tunes Ryan's and O'Neill's settings of the tune are not identical and differ in several ways. The tune makes a more convincing hornpipe than a reel.
