TIPSY SAILOR [2], THE. AKA and see “Merry Harriers (4) (The).” Scottish, Jig (6/8 time). E Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA’BB’. The jig is credited to biography:William Morrison in Scottish fiddler-composer biography:Joseph Lowe’s collection (1840) where it is called “Merry Harriers (4) (The).” "The Tipsy Sailor" title was used by fiddler Jerry Holland on his Rounder album, and may reflect his or another's misremembering of the original title.
