WHAT CARE I FOR THE MINISTER? (Coma leam fhein am Ministear). Scottish, (Slip) Jig (9/8 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "The Highlanders, it would seem, were as much inclined as others to resist the authority assumed by the clergy, in extorting confessions, and venting public reproofs, &c., as the words to this air appear to intimate, and they felt particularly sore upon this point, if the clergyman was a worthless person himself" (Fraser). The tune appears to be a version of the melodic material in "Haggis (The)" (Teigeis agus dealg innte), also in Fraser's collection. See also the related "Beggar's Will (The)."
