BOURTON ASSEMBLY. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was originally published by Charles and Samuel Thompson in their third country dance collection (London, 1773). "Bourton Assembly", and several of the Thompson's 1773 tunes, were entered into the 1788 music manuscript copybook of fiddlers John and William Pitt Turner (Norwich, Conn.).
