"Tarnbrook Rant" is contained in the music manuscript collection of the Winder family of Wyresdale, Lancashire, dating 1789-1841, with entries by various family members. Tarnbrook Wyre is a stream in the Forest of Bowland, also known as the Bowland Fells, an area of barren gritstone fells, deep valleys and peat moorland, mostly in north-east Lancashire, England. The hamlet of Tarnbrook itself is situated along the streamwest of Little Crag, and west of Swine Crag.
