WILLOW TREE [5], THE. AKA and see "Bonnie Sally," “New Married Couple (3) (The),” "O'Connell's Trip to Parliament (1),” "Sporting Days of Easter (1) (The)." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This reel is in Breathnach’s Ceol Rince na hÉirreann, vol. II (1976), as "O'Connell's Trip to Parliament (1).” (No. 217), which is by far the most popular title for the tune nowadays. Despite appearing as "Willow Tree" in Martin Mulvihill's 1986 collection, it appears as "O'Connell's Trip to Parliament" on his 1978 album "Traditional Irish Fiddling from County Limerick," recorded with banjo/guitar player and singer Mick Moloney.
