McGETTRICK'S. AKA and see "Spindleshanks (2)." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Black): AABB (Taylor). The title references whistle player James McGettrick (1909-98), from Acras, Ballymote in County Sligo, who is the source for the tune, first recorded under the "McGettrick" title by James Kelly and Paddy O'Brien in 1978. "Spindleshanks (2)" is the title fiddler Charlie Lennon used for the tune on his 1981 album "Lucky in Love," although that title is more often associated with a different tune. However, Lennon sourced the tune to McGettrick.

Source for notated version: a recording by accordion player Paddy O'Brien and fiddler James Kelly [Black]; set dance session music at Na PĂobairĂ Uilleann, recorded in the 1980's [Taylor].

Printed sources: Black (Music's the Very Best Thing), 1996; No. 167, p. 88. Taylor (Music for the Sets: Yellow Book), 1995; p. 3.

Recorded sources: Green Linnet Records SIF 1058, Matt Molloy & Sean Keane - "Contentment is Wealth" (1985). Shanachie 29015, Paddy O'Brien & James Kelly - "Is it yourself?" (1979). Shanachie 34014, James Kelly, Paddy O'Brien & Daithi Sproule - "Traditional Music of Ireland" (1995).
