A.A. DESCHÊNES. AKA and see "Gigue des pionniers." French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB. "A.A. Deschênes" is a traditional tune in the repertoire of Idilon Mimeault, father of fiddler Yvon Mimeault (b. 1928, Mont-Louis, Gaspé). It bears the name of André-Albert Deschênes, a violin-maker originally from Les Hauteurs (near Rimouski), who assisted a grateful Yvon in recalling it to memory.

See also fiddler Isidore Soucy's (1899-1963) version as "Gigue des pionniers."
