"Arndilly House" was composed by Elgin fiddler-composer biography:Donald Grant and was published in his Collection of Strathspeys, Reels, Jigs &c. (1820-21). Arndilly House was the seat of the MacDowell-Grantin the 18th and 19th centuries, built in 1770. It is located in Banffshire, Scotland, situated between the River Spey and Ben Aigan. In Donald Grant's time the laird of Arndilly was David McDowall Grant (1761-1841) of Arndilly, Banff and Barr House, Lochwinnoch. He was a Scottish naval officer, a collector of customs and, briefly, Member of Parliament.
