BARNY GHRAIANAI'S. AKA and see "Con McGinley's Highland." Irish, Highland (4/4 time). Ireland, County Donegal. A Mixoldyian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune is sourced to Donegal fiddler Barney Bhrianaí Molloy. Around the year 1930, Con McGinley, of Mín na Croise, near Glencolmcille, then in his mid-teens, hear Barney playing the tune in his house, and as the youngster walked by, he picked up the melody through the open door. McGinley emigrated to England in the early 1940's but made frequent trips back home and passed along the tune during one visit to Ronan Galvin and Mick Brown.
