BARON O' BRACKLEY, THE. Scottish, March (2/4 time). A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Scots fiddler-composer J. Scott Skinner (1843-1927). "The Baron o' Brackley" [1] [2] is an old ballad (see Child No. 203, Roud 4017) that relates a feud between John Farquharson of Inverey and John Gordon of Brackley in which the pair traded cattle raids, each seeking reparation and revenge.
