BENNEY SIDE. AKA - "Benny Side." Scottish, Air (whole time). G Minor (Oswald): D Minor (Davie). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Davie): AABBCC. Francis Peacock (1762) states "Benney Side" is "a new air" even though his printing is predated by Oswald's a couple of years (although dating is not firm). James Johnson used the tune for a song in the second volume of his Scots Musical Museum (1788, Song 153, p. 160), titled "'My lov'd Celestia", words possibly written by Alexander Robertson of Struan.
