BOB WALTER'S HORNPIPE. American, Hornpipe (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'AA'BB'BB'. Bob Walters (1889-1960) was an influential champion fiddler from Burt County, Nebraska whose hey-dey was the early to mid-20th century. He broadcast frequently over regional radio stations, and his playing was held in high regard.
Bob Walters This hornpipe, from a field recording in 1954 by one of his admirers, Dwight Lamb, was one of several tunes that Walters had no name for, however, per custom, it was called after his mentor. It is played quite fast, almost a reel with a bit of 'swing'.
