BONNY GREEN OF GLASGOW, THE. Scottish, Reel (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Ayrshire fiddler-composer John Riddell. There is an old ballad entitled "Bonny Glasgow Green," about a man who meets a lass bleaching clothes by the Clyde. He persuades her to forsake her mason lad and to go to Aberdeen with him. No connection between the ballad and Riddell's reel has been established.
