English, Scottish; Country Dance Tune (4/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "The Lass of Livingston" was entered by Scottish fiddler and writing master biography:David Young in his MacFarlane Manuscript (vol. 2, 1741, No. 3, p. 6). The tune appears, with the addition of "Bonnie..." to the title, in James Aird's Selections of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs, vol. 2 (Glasgow, 1785, p. 30).
