BOYS FROM THE EAST, THE (Na buacaillide on oir). AKA and see "Oriental Hornpipe," "Van Buren's Hornpipe." Irish, Hornpipe. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Boys from the East" is O'Neill's re-titling of "Oriental Hornpipe," printed in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883), which itself is a re-titling of Michael Higgins' 1829 composition "Van Buren's Hornpipe." O'Neill sometimes bestowed more 'Irish-sounding' titles on earlier tunes gleaned from the Howe publications.
