BRODERICK'S JIG. AKA and see "Haunted House (The)," "Old Leitrim Jig (The)." Irish, Jig. Ireland, County Sligo. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A similarly titled tune is "Vincent Broderick's," a reel, also from County Sligo. The jig was composed by County Galway flute player Vincent Broderick (perhaps with assistance from his brother Peter?), originally titled "The Haunted House." It seems the two were bicycling home one night from playing out when they passed a manor house on a hill, from which the sounds of dancing, music and laughter could be heard. They stopped to listen for a bit, however, being tired they made their way home. The next day they tried to find the house, but only found old ruins where they had stopped.
