BURREN [1], THE. AKA and see "All Ireland," "Burren No. 1," "Clematis," "Star of Kilkenny (The)," "Thady Casey's Fancy," "West Clare Reel (2) (The)." Irish, Reel. E Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The Burren is a karst limestone region in the north west corner of County Clare, spanning some 300 square kilometers. There are many ancient megolithic tombs and other structures in the Burren, which is composed of limestone pavements that have eroded in patterns known as karren. Not incidentally, The Burren is the name of the premier pub for traditional music in Boston, Massachusetts, a magnet for visiting and local session musicians.
