CAITLÍN TIRIAL (Kitty Tyrell). AKA - "Caitlin Triall." AKA and see "Kitty Tyrell (2)." Irish, Air (3/4 time). A Major (Roche): G Major (Ó Canainn). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Roche): AAB (Ó Canainn). The melody appears in Cooke's Selection of Favourite Original Irish Airs arranged for Pianoforte, Violin or Flute (Dublin, 1793). The tune also appears in the mid-19th century music manuscript collections of County Cork uilleann piper and Church of Ireland cleric James Goodman [1], and in the Sliabh Luachra manuscript at one time in the possession of D. Curtin of Stagmount, Rockchapel, Co Cork (No. 84, p. 37 [2]). A version of the tune in 6/8 time can be found as "Little Red Lark of the Mountain (1)."
