CALLAGHAN'S (HORNPIPE) [1] (Cornphíopa Uí Cheallacháin). AKA - "Hornpipe (129)," "O'Callaghan's Hornpipe." Irish, Hornpipe. Ireland, Sliabh Luachra region of the Cork-Kerry border. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Miller & Perron): AA'BB' (most versions). Named for fiddler Cal O'Callaghan, from Doon near Ballydesmond, County Cork, the uncle of influential County Kerry fiddler and teacher Pádraig O'Keeffe. Paul Deloughery, in his book Sliabh Luachra on Parade, maintains it was composed by O'Keeffe, but it may have only been adapted or popularized by him.
