The title may refer to the townland of Callanagh in the Parish of Drumlomman, County Cavan. An identical version of the jig is in O'Neill's Music of Ireland (1904) as "Flitch of Bacon (The)."

Source for notated version : - Leo Ginley [McGuire & Keegan]. Ginley was a well-respected fiddler in Belfast whose hey-day was the 1930's-1950's, who sometimes broadcast for RTE, UTV, Telefis Eireaen, and the BBC. He was a session mate of Sean McGuire's in Belfast.
