CAPTAIN LANOE'S QUICK MARCH. AKA and see "Cotillon Marionettes," "Marionetts (2)." English, March (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Captain Lanoe's Quick March" is contained in the 1796-1818 music manuscript collection of West Wittering, Sussex, clarinetist William Aylmore. An earlier version of the tune can be found in the large 1770 music manuscript collection of Northumbrian musician William Vickers as "Cotillon Marionettes."

Nick Barber (2002) remarks that the tune is often paired in a set with the 6/8 time setting of "Rogue's March (1)," although it has also been paired with other tunes as well.
