CASSE REEL DE JEAN-BAPTISTE APRIL. French-Canadian, Reel (cut and 3/2 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. This "Casse Reel", according to researcher Jean Duval, "is from the playing of Jean-Baptiste April, a fiddler from Notre-Dame-du-Portage, Quebec, recorded by Marius Barbeau on wax cylinder in 1918. April gave it the title "Casse-Reel", which suggest a Scottish origin of the tune." Jean suggests comparison with Terry "Cuz" Teahan's similar "Glountane School," with parts reversed.
