CAVE OF ENCHANTMENT. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody and dance instructions also appear in London publisher Thomas Skillern's Skillern's Compleat Collection of Two Hundred & Four Reels (1780), and Longman, Lukey and Broderip's Bride's Favorite Collection of Two Hundred Select Country Dances (c. 1775).

"The Cave of Enchantment" was a "an entertainment of Music and Dancing" with music by Charles Dibdin, performed at Sadler's Wells in 1774, according to period advertisements. It followed his "The Bower of Flora."
