CHICANIÈRE, LA. (The Quarreling Woman). French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAABB. The tune is one of a category of "disputant" tunes (primarily assigned a feminine gender) that are meant to musically conjure quarreling behavior, a dispute or an argument. Montreal fiddler J.O. LaMadeleine recorded this tune in October, 1928, but it was not released by Starr Records until January, 1929.
