CLIFTON SPRINGS [1]. English, Country Dance Tune (2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was also printed in J. Hewitt's Fashionable Repertory... of Country Dances & Waltzes (New York, c. 1807), and appears in the c. 1786 music manuscript copybook of American flute player Henry Beck. Country Dance directions for "Clifton Springs" were also published in P.H. Munson's Figures of the Newest and Most Fashionable Country Dances (Hudson, New York, 1808).
