COLLR. WILLIAM SIMSON'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB.William Simson founded Bowmore Distillery, Bowmore, Islay, in the year 1779. It is likely that Simson had been been distilling in Bowmore since shortly after his arrival in 1766, at a time when Daniel Campbell the Younger (the laird of the island) was expanding the village that later became the island's capital. Bowmoreis the home of the world's oldest Scotch Maturation Warehouse.
