CORA DYE. American, Reel. USA, Illinois G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. According to the book Dear Old Illinois, this tune originally came from a woman named Cora Dye, who played the tune on the guitar. A recording of farmer and dance fiddler Jim Reed playing it was taken June 14, 1972. The note from Dear Old Illinois says: "Learned by Mr. Reed from its namesake, a Benton area musician who was said to have played it on the guitar."
