DAVID POWER. AKA - "David Poer, Esqr." Irish, Air or Planxty (whole time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by blind Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738). Carolan researcher Donal O'Sullivan (1958) identifies the person named in the title as David Power of Coorheen House, on the shore of lake Louhgrea, County Galway. O'Carolan also composed tunes for Power's wife and daughter (see "Mrs. Power"/"Carolan's Concerto" and "Fanny Power", two of his most celebrated compostions.
