DEVIL'S GALLOP ROUND THE HOB, THE. Irish. The name of this tune is mentioned in an account by Crofton Croker of the playing of the blind uillean piper James Gandsey of County Kerry (1769-1857). A hob is a raised stone in a fireplace on which cookfires were built.
