DICKSON'S MARCH. English, March. A British march from the Revolutionary War period. It appears in American musicians' manuscripts of the period, including the 1776-1777 commonplace book of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, fifer William Morris (inscribed "William Morris First Regament Hunterdon"), and flute or fiddle player John Greenwood's commonplace book of c. 1785. It was printed in Exeter, New Hampshire, in 1808 by Norris and Sawyer in their volume The Village Fifer (p. 60).
