DO YOU KNOW JACK ADAMS'S PARISH. English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. According to Captain Grose et al's Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue (1811), 'Jack Adams' was a term meaning "a fool", while "among the 'lower orders'", 'Jack Adams's Parish' was Clerkenwell. Why Clerkenwell was so called is unknown.
