DOBNEY'S WALTZ. English, Waltz (3/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. The first strain of "Dobney's Waltz" is cognate with (but not identical to) "Minstrel's Waltz (The)," published in Boston by Graupner. Wolfe suggests the tune was the work of Michael Dobney, a late 18th-early 19th century composer (a piece, two duets for violin, was published by Cahusac in 1800).
