DR. ANDERSON. American, Reel (2/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABA. The reel was published in 1857 by George Willig Co. in Baltimore, Maryland, in a slight (six tunes) issue called Old Dominion Reels, edited by Charles Pape (who composed the first tune, "Stanton River"). Unfortunately, the music seems entirely composed, probably on the piano, and shows no association with traditional fiddling, save that it tries to mimic the form.
