DR. CHASSARD'S HORNPIPE. American, Hornpipe (2/4 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Along with this hornpipe melody, Boston publisher Elias Howe prints dance instructions, commonly known as "Lamplighter's Hornpipe". These same dance steps were published in 1855 in Washburn's Ball Room Manual of Contra Dances (Belfast, Me.) as "Chassard's Hornpipe."
