DR. IRVINE'S STRATHSPEY--PITLOCHRY. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Perthshire fiddler-composer biography:Duncan McKercher, the "Dunkeld Paganini." Dr. William Stewart Irvine of Pitlochry was the brother of Revd. Alexander Robertson Irvine of Blair Atholl, David Stewart Irvine and Clementina Irvine, all of whom McKercher composed tunes for. William was a medical practitioner who practiced in the Parish of Moulin for almost 60 years. He died in 1893. The Irvine Memorial Hospital, Pitlochry, a nursing home, was built in 1901 in his memory.
