DRUNKEN PEASANT. English, Country Dance Tune (cut time). D Major ('A' and 'B' parts): D Minor ('C' and 'D' parts). Standard tuning (fiddle). ABCD. The last measure of the 'C' part might be an A8. The melody also appears in John Johnson's Compleat Tutor for the Hautboy (Oboe), c. 1750 (p. 28), and his A Choice Collection of 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 3, 1748, and in Walsh's Fourth Book of the Compleat Country Dancing Master (1747).
