Grinnell Giggers fiddler Ben Tinnon is credited with the composition on the Victor record label. The group consisted of Tinnon (fiddle), Grover Grant (guitar) and Melvin Paul (mandolin), who recorded the side in Memphis, Tenn., in November, 1930. The title perhaps refers to the 'duck boot,' a waterproof, shoe-like boot that has a rubber lower section and a leather or waterproof textile upper. It was created in 1911,
