DUKE OF BUCCLEUGH'S BIRTH DAY. Scottish, Reel (cut time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Duke of Buccleugh's Birth Day" was composed by William Borrowman, about whom nothing is known, save that he identified himself as a "Teacher of Dancing" in Edinburgh. However, there is no record of a dancing master by that name in the city. He issued two separate single-sheets, each with three tunes in the key of 'C' major, all titles connected with Henry Scott (1746-1812), the 3rd Duke of Buccleuch and his family. The duke's birthday was September 2nd.
